Our Founder and CEO

Veleda Simon Simpson previously served in the capacity as a Public Library Administrator, School Media Specialist, and Independent Research Consultant over the past 20 years. She earned a MLS from Clark Atlanta University and a BA from Hampton University.  Veleda has significant experience in grant writing and has been awarded and managed several grants throughout her career.  Veleda is passionate about children and parents in urban communities aspiring for higher education.  She is concerned with the declining number of under-represented students pursuing college and is working to change those facts.  At present, Veleda has penned a supplemental education program, Project Higher Ed and is committed to helping students and families in urban communities envision and establish strategic pathways to and through college. Veleda is currently a newlywed and resides in the Chicago area with her husband Byron and their blended family of four children.
